The Shroud Of Turin

Others Say...

Scientists from the STURP team spent days analyzing, imaging, testing, and evaluating every aspect of The Shroud Of Turin from a completely unbiased, scientific perspective.  While STURP's world-class science experts are among the few people who have ever worked with the Shroud, they are absolutely the only ones who have ever been granted hands-on scientific access for several days.

But they're not alone in their interest.  Turns out, people have shown interest in, have been studying, and have commented on The Shroud of Turin for several centuries.  And not just scientists - authors, educators, theologians, and more.  Let's hear what they have to say...

"The Shroud is explicable if it once enwrapped a human body to which something extraordinary happened.  It is not explicable otherwise."

Geoffrey Ashe, noted British author who studied the Shroud
"What Sort Of Picture?" Sindon, 1966, pp. 15-19.

...something extraordinary happened
"The Shroud... is nothing less than the image of the Risen Christ..."

Thomas De Wesselow, The Sign: The Shroud of Turin and the Secret of the Resurrection, (New York: Dutton, 2012), pp. 341-342

...image of the Risen Christ
"The fabric of the Shroud can date back to the time of Christ."

Silvio Curto, "The Turin Shroud: Archaeological Observations Concerning the Material and the Image," Report of the Turin Commission on the Holy Shroud, pp. 59-73.

...can date back to the time of Christ
"No painter, in his most elaborate work, has ever risen to such exactitude."

Paul Vignon, The Shroud Of Christ, New Hyde Park, New York, 1970.

...risen to such exactitude.
"Whoever the individual represented may have been, he is of a physical type found in modern times among Sephardic Jews and noble Arabs."

Carleton Coon, noted ethnologist and former Harvard University professor, as quoted by Robert Wilcox in Shroud, New York: Bantam Books, 1978, pp. 130-133.

...he is of a physical type...Sephardic Jews...
"As for us, we fail to understand the manifest hostility toward the Shroud... Is it somehow bad manners to suggest that Christian claims about what happened to Jesus are, in fact, true?"

"Notes and Asides" in National Review, July 7, 1978, p. 821.

...can date back to the time of Christ

"We can conclude for now that the Shroud image is that of a real human form of a scourged, crucified man.  It is not the product of an artist.  The bloodstains are composed of hemoglobin and also give a positive test for serum albumin."

About This Section

With all of the scientific evidence supporting the authenticity of the Shroud Of Turin, one might assume interest in this artifact is limited to that field.  The truth is, this one artifact has garnered both acute interest and avid study by people from all walks of life.

A single arena or discipline - science, for example - can share the facts they have observed.  But when the facts of scientists find themselves in perfect alignment with the facts of history, and are categorically in sync with the facts recorded in a single work written by numerous authors over the course of several thousand years (FYI - that's exactly what the bible is)... that amount of clear-cut evidence is impossible to dismiss.
